With a faith-integrated therapeutic approach, we help Catholics struggling with scrupulosity—constant guilt, fear of sin, and relentless doubt—so you can stop living in fear of doing something “wrong” and start experiencing trust, peace, and freedom in your relationship with God.

When Your Faith Feels More Like Fear than Peace

You may feel constantly on edge—replaying conversations, prayers, or confessions in your mind, worried you missed something or offended God without realizing it. Small decisions can feel heavy. Confession may bring temporary relief, followed quickly by doubt and the urge to go back again. Instead of comfort, your faith may feel exhausting. Instead of closeness with God, you may feel trapped in fear, guilt, or uncertainty.

If this feels familiar, you are not alone — and you are not beyond hope.

What Is Scrupulosity?

Individuals with scrupulosity may be experiencing a subtype of obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD).

You might ask yourself:

  • “Did I sin… or am I overthinking?”
  • “What if my confession wasn’t sincere enough?”
  • "I thought about praying and didn't, was that wrong?"

You may also find yourself in unhelpful behaviors such as overly frequent confessions, repeating prayers, or replaying thoughts to see how you respond physically and emotionally.

In therapy, you are not rushed, challenged harshly, or pressured to abandon your faith. Our therapists offer calm presence, clarity, and compassion every step of the way.

What Healing Can Look Like

In time, life may begin to feel less tense and more spacious. You might notice moments where fear no longer controls your choices, and trust quietly takes its place. Your relationship with God may feel steadier, less fear-driven, and more rooted in mercy rather than perfection.

You may begin to notice small but meaningful shifts. Moments that once felt overwhelming become easier to navigate. Progress unfolds gradually, supported by consistency, reflection, and steady care. Every step works to restore your walk in faith.
